MY STORY

I was a person who was always on the go and I rarely took time to be still or be in silence.  When I did, I was still doing or thinking about stuff. My mother would nudge me to slow down, to be still, but I just kept going. Gradually over time it became harder to keep going.

For many years I worked in corporate roles, and I had immersed myself in wellness studies. My career focussed heavily on leading large-scale transformation, disruption and change. Individually, I reached a point where my own ability to change effectively and manage my day-to-day demands was lacking. No matter how much exercise or how many massages I had, despite feeling better for a little while afterwards, they were not effective as longer term solutions or strategies. When the triggers came my reactions were the same.

When I found Vedic Meditation and started my practice I was facing burnout and exhaustion. Without a way to release the accumulation of stress, it kept building up and I was full to the brim.

Within days of learning, something positive happened. I was intrigued and curious about what was happening. Something had profoundly moved and shifted in me. I was always of the belief that I could not meditate. My previous attempts at meditation had failed. Nothing ever stuck or was long lasting.  I had always seen myself as the person with too many thoughts, too busy to sit still, always on the go. Perhaps I was frightened to sit with myself, maybe I would not like what I might find?

In the stillness what I found was my own inner nature, my essence, my true self, my being. A quiet still space beyond thought that was calm and non changing. It was somewhere safe and nurturing.

As I continued with my practice, my experiences in meditation touched me so deeply that I continued my studies and my own intense learning began and continued for several years. This culminated with an intensive 3 months training program in the foothills of the Himalayas under the tutelage of my teacher Thom Knoles and here I qualified and became a Vedic Meditation teacher.

I trained under Thom Knoles in the Shankaracharya Tradition. Thom is the only Westerner to be inducted as a Mahamandaleshwar (Shri 1008 Mahamandaleshwar Maharishi Vyasanand Giri Maharaj ), the highest level of mastery in the Vedic tradition.  Thom in turn studied under his master Maharishi Mahesh Yogi who in turn studied under his master Swami Brahmananda Saraswati (Guru Dev).  Beyond that, this wisdom has been passed down in an unbroken lineage that dates back approximately 5000 years which has preserved the integrity and purity of the knowledge and teachings of this ancient tradition.

I now dedicate my time in service to teaching others the technique that has so profoundly changed my life.
